Chemoprevention of arsenic-induced skin cancer
This is a study to evaluate two agents, selenium and vitamin E, in the prevention of skin cancer in people who have been exposed to high levels of arsenic. People in Bangladesh who have skin rashes caused by arsenic are at a high risk of developing skin cancer, and will be assigned to one of four treatment arms, that include a combination of selenium, Vitamin E, or a placebo. Participants will be treated for five years, and will undergo regular physical exams focusing on skin exams as well as blood tests at 4 occasions looking at levels of the drugs. The goal is to determine whether either or both of these agents can decrease the risk of skin cancer in people exposed to high levels of arsenic.;
