Elucidating the biological mechanisms of tumor formation, making basic discoveries that can be translated into clinical practice, and facilitating the research activities of the disease-specific programs.
The basic science programs focus on the molecular and cellular events that lead to cancer and promote its development. These activities are organized into two programs:
Understanding the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control cell division, genomic stability, and gene expression in cancer cells.
Advancing the discovery of molecular events in the origins of cancer and their application to treatment and diagnosis.
