Understanding the distribution and causes of cancer in the population.

The members of the Population-Science Programs explore cancer at the level of populations, looking for patterns that give insight into its causes and its effects. They apply special expertise in statistics to assess the role of environmental and genetic risk factors in cancer, as well as prevention schemes, and help other researchers in statistical evaluation. In addition, they explore ways to reduce the incidence of cancer and to make treatment more effective, and to improve the quality of life for both cancer patients and their families.
- Cancer Epidemiology Investigating environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors that lead to increased incidence, morbidity and mortality from cancer, and integrate biomarkers into these studies.
- Prevention, Control and Disparties
Studying how the findings of basic, epidemiologic, and clinical research can be applied in real life.
